Classic Oman

Best time to go: October to May
Best for: Adventure & Off-the-beaten track, Culture & Beach, Cultural & Immersive, First Time Visitor

Our Classic Oman tour is a privately chauffeured journey through Oman and showcases the country’s wonderful highlights. Explore Oman’s beautiful beaches, rugged mountain landscapes, pretty villages, palm-fringed wadis, and the sheer beauty of the Arabian desert. You’ll have time to savour each element, taking a ‘slow travel’ approach so that you have time to truly relax and explore.

Muscat & Wahiba Sands

Begin in Muscat at one of the superb beach hotels, allowing the second day to explore both old and new Muscat. Your driver/guide will then take you south, stopping at the superb Wadi Arbaeen before arriving at your desert camp in Wahiba Sands (now known as Sharqiya Sands). On your approach to your camp, head off-road for a desert 4×4 dune ride. Spend the evening on a camel safari as the sun slowly sets.

Omani Mountains

Turn north, and visit Ibra which has a superb souk, before driving to Jabrin, a spectacular 17th fort. For those with a particular interest in forts, we can also include a visit to nearby Bahla Fort. Continue to Birkat Al Mouz, a picture-perfect Omani village before taking the serpentine road leading to your spectacular mountain-top hotel in the Jabal Akhdar.

The next day, set out on the wonderful Four Village Walk, a delightful 2-hour walk through abandoned villages, overlooking picturesque orchards, craggy peaks, dramatic gorges, and lush green terraced fields. Continue to the village of Wadi Bani Habib.

Rise early, and head to Nizwa, and if you can plan your trip so this day is a Friday, you can explore the superb livestock market and the bustling souq. Return back to Muscat via the off-the-beaten-track Wadi Bani Awf, arriving late in the afternoon.

R&R

Your final three nights are all about R&R. You can kick-back and get a good book out beside the Indian Ocean.

We can tweak and change any element of this itinerary (see the Customise tab below). Customise Your Itinerary

We can tweak and change any element of this itinerary and you can depart on any day you want, add nights here and there, and we can fully customise your day-to-day experiences depending on your interests. Here are just a few ideas of many that we can look at and discuss when we come to plan your tailor-made itinerary.

Add a night in the Jabal Shams

Our 'Classic Oman' suggested itinerary can be tweaked in any way, and you can add a night in the Jabal Shams. This allows you to walk around Oman's Grand Canyon, and also you are closer to see the villages of Al Hamra and Misfat.

See the Turtles at Raz Al Jinz

You can see the turtles at Raz Al Jinz very easily for a night between Muscat and Wahiba Sands.

    Do it in reverse

You can, of course, see the Omani mountains before doing Wahiba Sands and coming back to Muscat.

Skip the first few nights in Muscat

Some flights arrive into Muscat pretty early, so we could drive you straight to the Jabal Akhdar and then down to Wahiba Sands.
