The Four Village Walk is the best short walk in  the Jabal Ackdar region of Oman, passing traditional mountain villages, verdant landscapes and takes about two hours to complete.

The walk begins or ends in either Sayq or Al Aqur and passes along terraced farms that used the former falaj irrigation systems to cultivate this mountainous region, turning craggy landscapes into green fields. You pass through the villages of Ash Shirajah and Al Ayn en route. There are superb views over Wadi Muhaydin along the way. For those who want a shorter walk, you can just do the walk from Ash Shirayjah to Al Aqur, or even just Al Ayn to one of the others, so you can do the ‘Four Village Walk’ the ‘Three Village Walk’ or ‘Two Village Walk’, depending on how much you want to do. There’s an interesting Rose Distillation plant at Sayq (really good when the roses bloom from March to April), and we also suggest driving back via the viewpoint at Wadi Bani Habib on the way back to your hotel.
