To many, Nepal is all about trekking through rural villages beneath snow-capped peaks. Happily, our trekking holiday can be tailored to your fitness. So you need not be Bear Grylls to enjoy it. As you walk, you pass traditional villages and locals going about their day. Meanwhile, we use the finest luxury lodges. So you walk only a few hours daily, then relax with tea and a view. As ever, it is private and tailored to you.
Kathmandu: A Cultural Start
Begin in Kathmandu, ideally at the beautiful Dwarika’s. After the flight, the first afternoon is gentle. The next day, a private guide reveals the city’s hidden side. So you walk the alleyways and markets around Durbar Square. Then head to Swayambhunath, the ‘Monkey Temple’, for sweeping views. Later, see Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, with lunch at the famous Kaiser Cafe.
The Annapurna Trek
Next, fly to Pokhara, where your sherpa team meets you. From the roadhead at Lumle, the trek begins gently along a ridgeline. Soon it drops to the Modi River and the lovely Sanctuary Lodge. The next day climbs towards Ghandruk and Himalaya Lodge, about five hours. Then comes La Bee Lodge at Landruk, near the famous honey-hunters’ cliffs.
Through the Villages
From Landruk, you trek on towards Majgaun and Gurung Lodge. The ridgeline keeps it fairly flat, so you arrive by lunch. Then there is time for an afternoon walk in the villages. Another day climbs through forests of orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. Finally, you descend gently to Basanta Lodge at Dhampus. Throughout, your guide and sherpa set whatever pace you like.
Pokhara: A Well-Earned Rest
After the trek, it is a short downhill walk to the road. Then your driver takes you back to Pokhara, perhaps via the Tibetan monastery and Gurkha Museum. You stay at the Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge or Temple Tree. So you have earned a proper rest. Head down to the lakeside restaurants on Phewa Lake. For the active, paragliding makes the most of the views.
A Final Himalayan View
Finally, fly back to Kathmandu and up to Dwarika’s Dhulikhel. It sits on the ridge of the valley, with dramatic Himalayan views. So the last night is a serene close to the trip. From here, you can simply sit back and take it all in.
A Trek for Everyone
The beauty of this holiday is its flexibility. So the trek can be just a few days, or stretch to a few weeks. Meanwhile, the daily distances bend entirely to your fitness. Because porters carry the bags, you walk light. As a result, it suits keen walkers and gentle ramblers alike.
Where You Stay
Naturally, the lodges are a real part of the pleasure. On the trail, Sanctuary, Himalaya, La Bee, Gurung and Basanta lodges are wonderfully comfortable. Either side of the trek, you stay in lovely boutique hotels. Of course, each is chosen for its setting and warmth.
Best Time to Travel
Generally, spring and autumn bring the clearest mountain views. They also offer the most comfortable trekking conditions. By contrast, the monsoon months are best avoided. So we plan the route around the seasons. Either way, we advise on the ideal window for your dates.
Why Trek in Nepal
Nothing quite matches walking beneath the Himalayas. So the trek is the heart of this trip. Meanwhile, the villages reveal a timeless way of life. Each day, the peaks draw a little closer. As a result, the sense of achievement is real. In short, it is Nepal as it is meant to be seen.
Life in the Lodges
The luxury lodges make all the difference. So after a few hours’ walking, real comfort awaits. There are hot meals, warm beds and sweeping views. Meanwhile, a steaming cup of tea is never far away. As a result, you trek by day and relax in style by night.
Who It Suits
Above all, this suits anyone who loves the outdoors. For example, it is ideal for a first trek in the Himalayas. Equally, it rewards seasoned walkers wanting comfort. Couples, friends and families all enjoy it.
Easy to Combine
Finally, the trek pairs well with more of Nepal. For example, add wildlife at Chitwan. Equally, extend your time in Pokhara. As ever, we shape the whole journey around you.
Tailored to Your Fitness
The great joy here is flexibility. So the trek bends entirely to your level. For gentle walkers, the days stay short and flat. For the keen, longer afternoon walks are always there. Meanwhile, your guide reads the group and adjusts. As a result, everyone finishes each day happy.
