Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is located about 30 minutes drive from Pokhara and has dramatic views over the valley below, and the Annapurna Range beyond, including the alluring Fishtail peak. All of the 19 rooms have mountain views and have its own veranda. Look out over three of the world’s 8000 metre peaks, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu. The stone-cut cottages are located within the well-kept gardens and feature local understated furnishing such as hand-knotted Tibetan carpets, handmade wooden furniture and artwork.
Move back up the main lodge and you will find a cosy central fireplace, often surrounded by guests sipping a refreshing G&T talking about their stories of walking through the wilderness. There is an outdoor terrace which is ideal for dining al fresco with the added benefit of the views.
There are a range of superb day walks on offer from three to seven hours, taking in varying degrees of exertion in the local countryside. The hotel also offer various massage treatments from the privacy of your own room to sort out any trekking aches and pains you might have picked up. The lodge is superbly run by Marcus Cotton who has a wealth of experience living and working in Nepal.
The 19 stone bungalows are located at various points down the hillside from the main lodge and all have superb views with a private veranda. They have both king and twin rooms, either with slate or parquet flooring, natural exposed brickwork and traditional fixtures and fittings. Don’t expect TVs
Meals are served here with lunch being traditional Nepali fare and dinner being continental (although Nepali Thali is an option). We love the amazing afternoon teas, serving up Nepali Illam Tea and homemade cakes and cookies. There is also a welcoming bar for a drink if this or that as the sun sets.
