A cycling tour of Kathmandu is a great way to see the hidden side behind Kathmandu, slowly moving through the narrow streets, bustling markets and places of interest. You will not stop everywhere, just cycling past the amazing medieval temples and buildings, see the stunning architecture from two wheels, possibly stopping for a quick walk-around or a photo.
You begin in Kathmandu Durbar Square and head south on your cycling tour of Kathmandu, on a circular route taking in some lesser visited points of interest including Bhimsen Temple, Jaisi Devel Temple, Ram Chandra Mandir, Maccendranath Temple, Takan Bahal, Musum Bahal, the Shiva and Vishnu Temples. Back at Durbar Square, you head off along Makhan Tole before entering the markets in Indra Chowk and Kel Tole. Continue to Asan Tole, where six roads meet at a busy junction and is a popular marketplace, perfect to stop and have a walk through the stalls seeing the colour Nepalese way of life. Continue past Ugratara Temple and Ikha Narayan Temple. You then work north to Thahiti Tole before working your way along a street known for its pottery. Head for lunch at Kaiser Cafe in the Garden of Dreams before cycling through the popular tourist area of Thamel. That afternoon you cycle out to Swyambhunath Stupa stopping at the Indrani, Shobabaghwati and Bikeshwari Temples enroute. Once you see the Stupa your bikes will be picked up and you will driven back to your hotel.
