Dahabiya Cruise: Slowly Down the Nile
Cairo - Luxor - AswanSlow travel is all about taking it easy and by taking a Dahabiya, you can discover Egypt at a gentler, more refined way.
Take a guided tour of the temples of Karnak and Luxor on the east bank of the Nile. Karnak is one of the most impressive sites in Egypt and is the largest religious complex built by man. The ancient Egyptians considered the temple to be the site of creation where Amum-Ra brought the world into being from the primordial ocean. The temple of Luxor was once joined to Karnak by a 3km avenue of sphinxes and was dedicated to a special manifestation of Amun-Ra. The Amun of Luxor was visited once a year by the Amun of Karnak during the important Opet festival. Luxor temple provides a fine case study for the expansion of the Egyptian temple and embraces over 3,000 years of growth.
