Simply Egypt
Best for: River Cruises, First Time Visitor, Historical
Simply Egypt is a sojourn for those who want a short snapshot of Egyptian culture and history.
Begin in Cairo, arriving into the city on a Wednesday. Spend two nights here, giving you a chance for a full day exploring both the Pyramids and the superb Egyptian Museum. Here you will see the treasure trove of artefacts that have been collected from all over Egypt. End your day taking a short walk through the souqs around Khan Khalili Bazaar. You will, of course, be looked after by a private guide, and will have a personal driver to whisk you around the city.
Fly to Aswan, which is undeniably Egypt’s most picturesque city. The sand dunes of the Sahara roll down to join the glistening waters of the Nile. You also have the option of seeing the marvellous temples at Abu Simbel on your way to Aswan. You firstly see a little of Aswan. This includes the particularly striking Philae Temple as well as the Aswan High Dam. A surprisingly interesting visit is made to the ancient quarries used to supply stone for the various monuments you are exploring.
You then cruise along the Nile, seeing the temples at Edfu and also Kom Ombo en route to Luxor. Luxor was known as Thebes in ancient Egypt. You begin with seeing the Karnak and Luxor Temples that afternoon, before being shown the wonderful Valley of the Kings and the West Bank of the Nile the next day.
After you disembark, you can fly home via Cairo, or opt to extend your time in Egypt.
