The Detail
You would be unwise to feel reticent about considering a Hilton when selection your hotel in Egypt. However, the Hilton Luxor is a pleasant surprise. Above all, the views overlooking the Nile are spell-binding. Most importantly, the service, cuisine and rooms are all top-notch. The Hilton also doesn’t lack character and style (which you can find with Hiltons).
Firstly, let’s take the rooms. There are 236 of them, and if you pick the Deluxe Rooms, you will enjoy Nile views from your own balcony. The other luxury hotels in Luxor, the Old Winter Palace or Al Moudira often are let down by the quality of their rooms. You can opt for their entry-level Guest Rooms which look over the city or gardens (with patios/balconies). For those wanting more space opt for Junior, Nile and Spa Suites – all with living areas and lovely private balconies or patios. They also have interconnecting family rooms.
There are eight restaurants and bars at the Hilton Luxor. We love Diwan, where you can sit back in their chic Shisha cafe. At the Oasis Pool Bar, you can swim up and order a drink from the pool. Olives serve Mediterranean snacks and sizzling grills overlooking the Nile. Rosetta is the main all-day dining restaurant. Silk Road is a speciality Asian restaurant. The Sunset Lounge & Terrace also serves drinks and cocktails overlooking the Nile.
The hotel’s infinity pool right beside the Nile is an inviting proposition after a day seeing the Valley of the Kings, or the Temples of Karnak or Luxor. There is also a world-class spa, with Nile-side treatment rooms, a riverfront gym (again with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Nile). There are also tennis and squash courts.
Millis Potter Insight
Firstly, if you like your creature comforts, then the Hilton Luxor is the best option for you. For example, its rooms are of a better standard than the Old Winter Palace or Al Moudira. Most importantly, you have excellent Nile views. Moreover, the restaurants on offer are excellent. However, you do that a fairly bland atmosphere. But, we rather like the Hilton Luxor – it does everything it says on the tin.
