Dahabiya Cruise: Slowly Down the Nile
Cairo - Luxor - AswanSlow travel is all about taking it easy and by taking a Dahabiya, you can discover Egypt at a gentler, more refined way.
Known as the world’s largest outdoor museum, Luxor is a must-see on any tour of Egypt. Known as Thebes in ancient times, this impressive city was home to some of the more colourful pharaohs. Their burial ground was situated on the West Bank of the Nile, and here you find countless tombs of pharaohs, queens and nobles. Most famous, of course, is that of Tutankhamun’s which was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. Better still is the tomb of Queen Nefertari and Rameses IV. Other attractions include the superb Madinet Habu, Valley of the Nobles, Valley of the Artisans and the Colossi of Memnon.
Two superb temples remain on the East Bank in the shape of the Karnak and Luxor Temples. End your day with a sunset felucca cruise on the Nile, sipping a sundowner on the waters that have played host to so much history.
