The Story

Best time to go: Mid-September to April
Best for: Slow Travel, First Time Visitor

There are few better places than Nepal to cleanse both body and soul on a Wellness Holiday. Indeed, we promise you will return glowing. So you begin with the spirit, meeting Buddhist monks and Hindu priests in Kathmandu. Then you work on the body, with a four-day trek beneath the Annapurnas. Finally, you restore the soul at a luxury spa retreat. As ever, the whole journey is private and tailored to you.

Kathmandu: The Spiritual Heart

Begin in Kathmandu at the beautiful Dwarika’s. With a private guide, you see the city’s hidden side. So you explore the pagoda-style Durbar Squares and bustling markets. You also visit Swayambhunath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’. Another day, see Patan Durbar Square and meet a local astrologer. So the first soul experience begins early.

Monks, Sadhus and Sacred Sites

One day is devoted entirely to spirit. First, visit the great Boudhanath Stupa, a spiritual home for Tibetan exiles. There you meet a monk and talk of the soul and Buddhism. Then continue to Pashupatinath, Nepal’s holiest Hindu temple. Here a Sadhu guides you through the sacred surroundings. As a result, you gain a real feel for Nepal’s living faith.

The Annapurna Trek

Next, fly to Pokhara and begin a four-day trek in the Annapurna region. You follow a ridgeline with sweeping views of the Pokhara Valley. Soon you drop to the Modi River and the lovely Sanctuary Lodge. From there, the trail climbs to Himalaya Lodge at Ghandruk. Later come La Bee Lodge at Landruk and Gurung Lodge at Majgaun. Each day is four to five gentle hours, beneath some of the world’s highest peaks.

Dhulikhel: Revitalisation

Finally, return to Kathmandu and head to Dwarika’s Dhulikhel. It sits on the ridge of the valley, with Himalayan views in the distance. Here you spend five nights on the revitalisation package. So you enjoy daily yoga and meditation, plus spa cuisine. There are treatments too, including Vasti and Shirodhara. Our favourite, though, is the Himalayan singing-bowl therapy.

Body and Soul Restored

The beauty of this trip is its balance. First, the mind is stilled among the temples. Then the body is worked on the trail. Finally, both are restored at the spa. So you finish thoroughly cleansed, inside and out. As a result, you return home glowing, just as we promised.

Where You Stay

Naturally, the hotels are chosen to match each phase. First, Dwarika’s grounds you in Kathmandu’s heritage. Then the Annapurna lodges bring comfort on the trail. Finally, Dwarika’s Dhulikhel delivers serenity and spa. Of course, each is a sanctuary in its own right.

Best Time to Travel

Generally, spring and autumn bring the clearest mountain views. They also offer the most comfortable trekking conditions. By contrast, the monsoon months are best avoided for walking. So we plan the route around the seasons. Either way, we advise on the ideal window for your dates.

Why Nepal Heals

Few places restore you quite like Nepal. So the spiritual depth is part of the cure. Meanwhile, the clean mountain air clears the head. The slow rhythm of trail and temple does the rest. As a result, you return calmer as well as fitter. In short, it is a holiday that genuinely changes how you feel.

Life on the Trail

The trekking days are gentle but deeply rewarding. So you walk through terraced fields and small hamlets. Along the way, snacks and hot lunches appear at the lodges. Meanwhile, the peaks loom ever closer above you. Each night, a comfortable lodge welcomes you. As a result, the body works without ever being pushed too hard.

The Revitalisation Package

At Dhulikhel, the focus turns fully to renewal. So the package addresses the Pancha Kosha, from sole to soul. There are treatments, yoga and carefully curated spa cuisine. Our favourite, though, is the Himalayan singing-bowl therapy. Meanwhile, the Himalayan views do their own quiet work. As a result, you leave thoroughly restored.

Who It Suits

Above all, this suits anyone craving renewal. For example, it is ideal after a stressful year. Equally, it rewards those drawn to yoga and spirituality. Couples and solo travellers both enjoy it. As a result, it is one of our most restorative journeys.

A Gentle Rhythm

Above all, the trip never feels rushed. So the spiritual days unfold slowly. Then the trek finds its own easy rhythm. Finally, the spa days melt away any tension. As a result, the whole journey feels like one long exhale.

Designed Around You

As ever, this journey is only a starting point. So we shape the trek, the spa and the pace to suit. Above all, we build the balance around how you want to feel. In the end, it is entirely your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is the trek?

It is gentle to moderate, at four to five hours a day. Helpfully, porters carry your bags and the pace suits you. So it is about immersion rather than hard trekking.

Can I extend the spa stay?

Yes. Some guests stay up to three weeks at Dhulikhel. We simply lengthen the revitalisation package to suit.

When is the best time to go?

Generally, spring and autumn are best for clear views and comfortable walking. We will advise on timing for your dates.

Can it be tailored?

Entirely. The trek, the spa and the pace are all shaped around you. Simply share your dates and interests, and we will craft the rest.

    Customise Your Itinerary

We can tweak and change any element of this itinerary and you can depart on any day you want, add nights here and there, and we can fully customise your day-to-day experiences depending on your interests. Here are just a few ideas of many that we can look at and discuss when we come to plan your tailor-made itinerary.

    Idea 1

You might want to include a stay in Pokhara after your trek and before travelling back to Kathmandu. We suggest the superb Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, with views looking back over the Annapurna Range.

    Idea 2

If you feel you would like even more relaxation, why not opt for Oman Air and stop back in the Chedi on your return?

    Idea 3

If you really want a 'wow' experience, you could take a flight, or even a private helicopter experience around Everest. If you opt for the helicopter, we can take you to Tengboche Monastery for morning prayers, overfly Base Camp and then fly back down the Gokyo Valley. The views are as you would expect, utterly stunning.

    Idea 4

We can easily combine this itinerary with a visit to Northern India, Tibet or Bhutan. Whatever you have in mind, we can probably help!
