The Dead Sea
Nothing quite prepares you for the sensation of floating on the buoyant, salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea. For centuries, the Dead Sea has attracted travellers who revel in the healing properties of the high oxygen levels, being 360 metres below sea level and the mineral-rich mud used in the spa treatments. The weather is warmer here too, often a few degrees warmer than Amman or Petra, so the Dead Sea makes for a perfect ending to a trip to Jordan. The hotels all look out toward the West Bank, and as such, each evening the sunset is incredible. Close by is the important biblical site of Bethany Beyond and Jordan where tradition has it that it was the baptism site of Jesus.
