The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, 400 metres below sea level. The water in the Dead Sea has a salt content of 34%, and as such it is far denser than normal water and as a result you float on the water. It is also said that the Dead Sea mud and water have natural healing properties. This has led to a series of world-class spa hotels opening beside the banks. The water also contains 21 minerals including high levels of magnesium, sodium, potassium, and bromine and 12 of these minerals are found in no other body of water in the world.
