Safari & Beach: Tigers & the Maldives
This itinerary works beautifully as a honeymoon, or for anyone wanting a relaxing combination of wildlife and some of the best beaches in the world to finish. The big draw of Indian wildlife is, of course, spotting tiger in the wild — but India offers so much more besides. You’ll spend four nights in Pench National Park, made famous by the BBC’s Spy in the Jungle, before flying out to the Maldives to switch off completely. It’s a wonderfully diverse pairing: the thrill of the forest followed by the pure calm of an island, all private and tailor-made.

Pench National Park
Pench is just a two-hour drive from Nagpur, which has convenient international connections, so you can fly in and go straight to the wildlife without needing a night or two in Delhi or Mumbai first. You might stay at the salubrious Bagh Van, comparable to the luxury lodges of Africa, where you can even sleep out under the stars above your room within a mosquito net; or at Flame of the Forest to the north of the park, which offers a superb, more rural experience.

Beyond the Tiger
The park is beautiful, with a wonderfully eclectic mix of wildlife. Alongside tiger you may see leopard, dhole (Indian wild dog), wolf, jackal, hyena and jungle cat, while the prey species include chital and sambar deer, gaur, muntjac, wild boar, langur and rhesus macaque. With over 300 recorded bird species, the birdlife is rich too. Four nights gives you time to settle in, head out on unhurried game drives morning and evening, and simply let the wildlife experience unfold.

Bangalore
Drive back to Nagpur and fly to Bangalore for a night — a little dose of civilisation before your island escape. The city has some superb restaurants and bars, and offers a glimpse into modern Indian city life, a nice contrast to the forest.

The Maldives
Fly on to the Maldives and simply kick back for seven nights or more on the beach. Whether you choose a private overwater villa, a barefoot-luxury hideaway or a spa-focused retreat, we match the resort precisely to your style. After the early-morning drives and forest dust, the contrast of warm turquoise water and total calm is sublime.

Why This Combination Works
Few pairings capture India’s range quite like this: raw, thrilling wildlife followed by some of the most beautiful beaches on earth. It’s relaxed yet full of wonder, and especially lovely for honeymooners. As with all Millis Potter tailor-made holidays, every element — the lodges, the length of each stay, the resort — is shaped entirely around you.

Sleeping Out and Settling In
Four nights in Pench is enough to truly settle into the rhythm of safari life — early starts for the cool of dawn, leisurely brunches back at the lodge, and golden-hour drives as the forest comes alive again. At Bagh Van you can even sleep out under the stars on a platform above your room, wrapped in a mosquito net, listening to the night sounds of the jungle; at Flame of the Forest, the rural setting and warm hospitality make for a more intimate base. Either way, the unhurried pace lets the wildlife reveal itself naturally, rather than chasing sightings.

From Forest to Ocean
The magic of this itinerary is the contrast. You go from the dust, drama and anticipation of the forest to the soft, slow luxury of a Maldivian island, with a night in Bangalore to ease the transition and enjoy some of India’s best food and city life. By the time your speedboat or seaplane reaches the island, you’ve earned the stillness — and the days of snorkelling, spa treatments and doing gloriously little feel all the sweeter for the adventure that came before. It’s a combination that suits honeymooners and seasoned travellers alike.

Why It Suits Honeymooners
There’s something special about sharing a wildlife adventure and then a desert-island idyll with the person you love. The safari days are full of shared anticipation and wonder; the island days are all about each other, with private villas, candlelit dinners on the sand and nothing on the agenda but relaxation. The single night in Bangalore even adds a touch of city sparkle in between. It’s a honeymoon with genuine range — adventure and indulgence — and we tailor every element, from the lodge to the resort, to make it unmistakably yours.

Getting There Easily
The logistics are refreshingly simple for such a varied trip. Flying into Nagpur puts you within a two-hour drive of Pench, so you reach the wildlife almost immediately, with no wasted days in transit beforehand. The onward hops — to Bangalore and then the Maldives — are all arranged and met for you, so the journey flows without friction from forest to city to island.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is this trip?
Roughly two weeks works well — four nights on safari, a night in Bangalore, and seven or more in the Maldives — though it flexes easily to your time and budget.

How likely am I to see a tiger in Pench?
Sightings are never guaranteed in the wild, but Pench offers good chances, and your guide can head away from other vehicles for more private encounters. The wider wildlife makes every drive rewarding regardless.

When is the best time to go?
The dry season, broadly November to April, is best for wildlife viewing (parks usually close in the monsoon), and aligns reasonably with the Maldives’ drier months. We’ll advise for your dates.

Is it good for a honeymoon?
Very much so — the mix of shared adventure and indulgent relaxation, with private lodges and a tailored island resort, makes it a wonderful honeymoon.”
