Pench National Park is probably best known as the setting for the BBC’s famous ‘Spy in the Jungle’ documentary, charting the lives of some tiger cubs growing up in the park. The Pench River flows through the park, and there are a number of water bodies which are perfect for seeing wildlife. As well as tiger, you can see leopard, dhol (Indian Wild Dog), wolf, jackal, hyenaand the jungle cat. The prey comprise of chital deer, sambar deer, gaur, muntjac, boar, langur and rhesus macaques. There is a rich birdlife with over 300 recorded bird species, including kingfsiher, hornbills, parakets, barbets, orioles, minivets, wagtails, and a host of raptors; the crested serpent eagle, crested hawk eagle and white-eyed buzzard. Game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon.
