Day 1

Yangon

Fly into Yangon and spend the evening at Schwedagon Pagoda for sunset. It goes without saying you’ll be staying in the best address in town at the Governor’s Residence in a Governor’s Room.

Day 2

Yangon

Set off on a fully tailored tour of Yangon, designed around your interests. We will provide an expert guide, and suggest a blend of seeing the bustling local markets and a walk through the colonial quarter of the city. Head to the Strand for high tea in this superb colonial building and dinner at Le Planteur, the best restaurant in town.

Day 3

Bagan

Fly to Bagan and spend the afternoon to explore Bagan with a private guide. In the evening, you will take a private boat out on the Irrawaddy for sunset, champagne in hand. You’ll stay in the Aureum, in a suite, with a terrace overlooking the pagodas.

Day 4

Bagan

In the morning, take a balloon over Bagan, seeing this amazing site at the best time of day. You can then see more of the temples and pagodas under your own steam or continue on our immersive take on the area around Bangan. Head to the local market in Nyauang U before seeing the more remote village of Myinkaba for tea in a local Buddhist Monastery. Continue to Shwe Gu monastic school where you can meet the young monks.

Day 5

Irrawaddy River

Board the Anawratha, the most exclusive ship on the Irrawaddy. Stay in one of their better suites, offering superb views as you cruise along the river. You’ll set sail for Salay, seeing the wonderful Youqson Kyaung monastery, constructed from teak.

Day 6

Irrawaddy River

Today you leisurely cruise upstream, and it might be worth heading up to the top deck with a book to watch the world goes by. After lunch arrive at Pakkoku, see some of the small cottage industries at work such as cheroot making before visiting the market. Cruise onto Ngar Lan to dock for the night.

Day 7

Irrawaddy

Pass the confluence of the Irrawaddy and the Chindwin before arriving at the village of Yandabo, famous for the production of pottery. Wander around the village that time hasn’t changed. You then cruise onto Ponna Chan.

Day 8

Irrawaddy River

Today you arrive into the former capital of Ava which you explore on horse-drawn carriage. Continue to Sagaing across a bridge constructed by the British in 1934. You’ll then arrive into Mandalay with a chance to explore the city including Kuthodaw Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery, the Mahamuni Temple and finish for sunset on U Bein Bridge.

Day 9

Inle Lake

After breakfast on the ship, transfer to the airport and fly to Heho. You’ll then drive to Inle Lake where a private boat will be waiting for you to take you to Sanctum Inle Resort, the best hotel on the lake. Stay in a villa overlooking the lake and have the afternoon with your feet up.

Day 10

Inle Lake

A private boat and guide will be waiting to show you the hidden side to Inle Lake, exploring the communities who live and work around the lake.

Day 11-13

Ngapali Bay

Today, head back to Heho and fly to Thandwe Airport, just a short distance from the beaches of Ngapali. Stay for three nights at Ngapali Bay in a villa that has superb views over the Bay of Bengal. Stay in a villa with a plunge pool and direct views over the sea.
