Classic Burma and the Mergui
Mandalay - Bagan - Inle Lake - Yangon - Mergui ArchipelagoExplore the untouched islands of the Mergui Archipelago in southern Burma with the classics highlights of this amazing destination.
Bagan never ceases to make people simply go ‘wow’. With over 3000 temples and pagodas drifting off into the distance, with the might Irrawaddy drifting past. At sunrise, take a balloon and see the sheer expanse of it all and at sunset, clamber on to one of the tallest pagodas to see the light shimmer and change against the various structures. Quite simply, it is a photographers delight and an explorers dream: the best way to see them is to hop onto bikes and just explore the 26 square-miles of temples. They were built between 1057 and 1287, but earthquakes and the invading Mongols under Kublai Khan ended this glorious age. You can easily include Bagan on a tour of Burma, with easy flight connections to Heho (for Inle Lake), Yangon and Mandalay. Many guests opt to cruise between Mandalay and Bagan on the Irrawaddy.
