Aureum Palace Bagan

The Aureum Palace Resort is set within 27 acres of gardens, with breathaking views over the Bagan temples. There are 114 rooms and suites, so making it one of the larger hotels in Bagan, but the villas are spread out through the site so it doesn’t feel overly cramped. You can opt for the standard Deluxe Rooms which are located close to the main lobby and look inwards over an internal swimming pool. For temple views, it is worth opting for one of the villas. The Jasmine Villas are right beside the lake and feature a lovely lake-side terrace to relax on, glass in hand as the sun sets over the Bagan temples. The Orchid Villas the row behind the Jasmine Villas (with better views as they are at a higher elevation), and we feel the decor is slightly more light and airy making it our favourite villa. The Lotus Villas at the back and are quite dark and gloomy on our opinion. For families they have the two bedroom Tree Villas which has its own pool, and the top Island Villa is as the names suggests, right in the middle of the lake.

The Aureum Palace has several restaurants and bars, all utilising the superb temple views. Opt for Xanadu for all-day dining, Shan for local specialities or retreat to the two bars for a cocktail as the sun sets.
