The best way to see the temples is definitely on bikes. We can arrange for a guide to take you, or if you just want to head off under you own steam, then that is absolutely fine! The best route is to start at Ananda Temple before heading to Dhammayangyi, dating from 1170. Hop across 2kms to Dhammayazaka which is one of the ones you can climb up to get a view of the whole site. You are then back on the paved road, and it is wort stopping for a drink at the little cafe there. Stop at the village of Phwa Saw, a quitessential Burmese village of rattan houses, bullock carts and little craft cottage industries. Continue to Minnanthu before heading onto Shwezigon. Stop for lunch and then set off to Wetkyi-Inn village and then the temple of Htilominlo. You are then back to Ananda where you can cycle back to your hotel. This route is about 10kms of cycling, with lots of stops!
We arrange totally bespoke trips and design an itinerary that is designed around you. You may have seen a suggested itinerary that we can base your plans around, or we can start with a blank sheet and paper and design something from scratch. You can leave a phone number and suggest a time to call you back, and we can also arrange to do this during the evenings or at weekends if you are busy during the daytime. We can also meet up with you in you fancy a coffee and are based in and around London.
