The Sun City Camp is located about 20 minutes into the vast Wadi Rum desert, accessed a 4×4 jeep drive. There are 60 tents here, so it’s a fairly large camp, but offers some of the most comfortable tents in Wadi Rum. There is a camp behind Sun City, but you enjoy uninterrupted views of Wadi Rum from the front of the camp. Opt for standard basic Bedouin tents, Royal Tents with your own sitting area, two-bedroom tents or futuristic air-conditioned Martian Domes which enable you to gaze up at the stars from your bed. All rooms have electricity, private bathrooms with hot and cold running water and a small patio from which to look out at the desert. You dine in the large communal bedouin tent on low-rise tables. Feast on salads and ‘zarb’ – roasted or barbecued meats, mezze and soft drinks.
There are a range of things to see and do in Wadi Rum, from a jeep drive, trekking, camel rides, balloon rides and even walking up Jordan’s highest mountain close to the border with Saudi Arabia.
Millis Potter Insight
If you are looking for the best camp that won’t break the bank, then Sun City is the perfect choice. The accommodation is much better than many of the larger camps in Wadi Rum and therefore we suggest this as our entry level camp. If you want a more exclusive experience, consider Bespoke Hideaways. This has just six tents but costs three times as much.
