Ascent of Jebel Umm Ad Dami in Wadi Rum
Jebel Umm Ad Dami (1,854m) is the highest mountain in Jordan and is located about 35kms from the main visitor centre of Wadi Rum, taking about 1.5 hours to reach the base of the trek by a 4×4 jeep. The ascent and descent then take about 3 hours, followed by a 1.5 hour drive back to your camp. The ascent is not technically challenging, although the path leading to the summit is very rocky, with an element of scrambling. Once at the summit, you can peer into Saudi Arabia. On a clear day, you can see the Red Sea to the south, and the expanse of Wadi Rum before you. Your guide will bring a packed lunch for you to enjoy at the summit, looking out over the views.
