Purity

Purity is a luxury boutique located on the banks of Lake Vembenad in Kerala, India featuring just 14 rooms. Built in 2003 by Maria Angela Fernhof, Purity was a labour of love, blending Keralan design with an Italian flourish, fitting traditional windows and doorways and using white-rendered walls set against cute terracotta roofing. It is simply a tasteful fusion of so many styles, whether Italian, Rajput and Keralan and inside the hotel you will find a plethora of modern and antique Indian artwork and furniture. The Malabar Hotel group took over the hotel, and added more rooms and two swimming pools, yet retaining its magically relaxing atmosphere. Most guests arrive and simply say ‘wow’ when they see the views over the lake, and this is very much Purity’s big plus point. The other major draw is that you are completely away from the other hotels that line Lake Vembenad, and as such you feel very much off-the-beaten track, albeit having to arrive along a slightly bumpy road to get there (which is half the fun).
