Bujera Fort is just 15 minutes from Udaipur, but comes without the high price-tags which come with staying in some of the well-known opulent options in town. Interior designer Richard Hanlon has created a stylish retreat, salvaging vintage doors and windows, complete with cloistered lawns, courtyards and fountains. Bujera comprises the main fort where you find most of the rooms along with two smaller houses, the Bujera Bungalow and the Bujera House (which are booked exclusively for a minimum of week-long stays)
The hotel has a delightful swimming pool, and two heated plunge pools, a gym and a massage centre. Dining takes place in the indoor dining room, or outside if weather permits
The rooms have been lovingly designed, using a dash of Indian fabrics, with classic, yet muted colours. Rooms do not have TVs, but expect all the mod-cons of a modern boutique hotel. All rooms are air-conditioned keeping them cool in summer and warm in winter. The Fort has seven of the rooms, including two superb rooftop suites complete with private balconies, and they even have ‘his and hers’ private bathrooms (yes you actually get two separate bathrooms!). The smaller rooms are the Cloister Rooms, again with private balconies, and just one bathroom, complete with bathtub and marble bathrooms. The Bujera House is ideal for families as its always booked in its entirety, and comes with three en-suite rooms. It has its own dining rooms, and a small private plunge pool. The Bujera Bungalow runs along a similar concept, but has four rooms.
