Essaouira and the Atlantic Coast
Morocco’s Atlantic coast stretches from Cape Spartel right down to the border with Western Sahara. You find Morocco’s capital, Rabat, and its financial centre in Casablanca. Smaller, but where most guests visit you find the towns of Oualidia and Essaouira. Further south you find the popular beach destination of Agadir, and below that, a superb beach stretch that includes Sidi Ifni. If you are travelling from outside Europe, you will very likely find yourself flying into Casablanca, and although it doesn’t have the magical feel put across in the film of the same name, it is worth spending a day exploring – if anything to try some superb restaurants.
Down the coast, you find some lovely seaside destinations. Interestingly enough, these are quite cool in the summer months due to the breeze, making them an all-year destination. Many guests enjoy visiting Essaouira with its interesting medina and superb riads and hotels. In Oualidia, you get more of a quiet beach stay, and a superb hotel, La Sultana.
