You might well have been to Sri Lanka before, and just want to return on holiday to your favourite destinations without the need to see it all again on a long tour. It is very much a luxury holiday, a way to kick-back and let the winter sun completely rejuvenate you, staying in fantastic hotels. Combine the outstanding Ceylon Tea Trails with the two Aman hotels on the south coast in Galle and Tangalle. There is no need for the long drive down to the coast as you can fly in a seaplane from the lake down to nearby Kogalla. All in all, you’ll spend your days just putting your feet up, and we can tailor the day-to-day experience with a collection of interesting experiences such as walks in the hills, maybe learning a spot of Sri Lankan cookery or cycling through the paddy-fields outside of Galle. Arrive into Colombo and transfer 15 minutes to a lovely, boutique hotel, the Walawwa.
Drive into the Hill Country for a three night stay in Tea Trails in a small tea bungalow. Spend your days taking gentle walks through the tea fields, maybe a spot of croquet on the lawn of your bungalow. For the more active, there are walks in Horton Plains and World’s End, not forgetting a climb up Adam’s Peak for incredible views. Most guests choose to sit back, sip tea whilst reading a good book, looking out over Castlereagh Reservoir.
Fly from the nearby lake to Kogalla where you’ll stay for three nights at the superb Amangalla. Spend two days exploring the surrounding area, taking a guided walk through the fort area. You might like to take bikes out into the surrounding countryside on a leisurely route, passing traditional Sri Lankan villages and passing paddy-fields.
Drive down the coast to Tangalle, to end on the beach at Amanwella. Again, you can do as much or as little as you want. Nearby is Yala National Park if you fancy a spot of wildlife, otherwise just enjoy your beach-time.
