Maison Rouge is a private three-bedroom house located in Aojou (near Issafen) in southern Morocco. It is usually the third stop on Dar Ahlam’s Memory Road (also known as the La Route De Sud), and you will be the only guests here.

Maison Rouge is crafted of red stone and has terraces that maximise the 180° view onto the Awju Valley and surrounding mountains. The deck on the top of the house is a delightful setting for dinner. Inside, the design is equally as stylish using exposed wooden beams and elegant wickerwork. It’s especially glorious when the sun goes down and the staff place lanterns galore. There are three rooms, with en-suite bathrooms. You will find a writing desk, and colonial-era dark wooden chests. The living room also has a stone fireplace and comfortable chairs to enjoy an aperitif or two. You’ll also notice the grammar phone in the corner. Stick on a tune and smile.

Firstly, close your eyes and imagine the most amazingly remote boutique hotel, and you will probably find it with Maison Rouge. It’s a particularly great way to get totally away from things. Moreover, meals from the terrace are quite special indeed!
