If you like to get into the villages surrounding Inle, then we suggest travelling to the village of Maing Thauk (possibly on the day when the market comes). Walk to Maing Thauk Monastery and up to Bawlapet Village up on the hills above the lake. Continue up to Bondle village, an ethnic Pao community who grow sugar cane, corn and cheroot. Continue to Lwe Khaw (Done Dwan), which is another interesting village. Stop to talk to the locals (your guide can translate) as they love to welcome visitors to their patch of Inle.
