Adam’s Peak is Sri Lanka’s Matterhorn; a dramatic vertical peak that has been a pilgrimage site for centuries. It is located at the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country and is best climbed at night, arriving in time for dawn where the views from the top are staggering wonderful. The climb takes about four hours, so this means a 02:00 start! Generally, it is best to climb Adams Peak from December to May during the pilgrimage season. You need to be fit to climb the mountain as it involves about 5,500 steps. However, the reward is certainly the views and seeing the many people coming here in pilgrimage.
