The Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s largest nature reserve and is one of the best trekking area in Jordan. The elevation drops from about 1,500 metres (4,900ft) on the Qadisiyah plateau to the low-lying desert area of Wadi Araba. The walk down from Dana Guest House to Feynan Eco Lodge passes through four bio-geographical zones; Mediterranean, Irano-Turanian, Saharo-Arabian, and Sudanian penetration. There are 703 plant species, 215 species of birds, and 38 species of mammals in the Dana Reserve. Bedouins live in the reserve, and often invite you in for a cup of tea.
