The Kerala backwaters and its quiet waterside villages are a magical region to explore, and the very best way of experiencing the slow pace of life is aboard a private houseboat just for you, with a crew to look after and cook for you. The houseboast we use are converted rice barges and come with a private bedroom, bathroom, showers, flush toilets and hot water.
The daytime is spent peacefully gliding through the palm-fringed channels from village to village, and letting each scene slowly unfold. You will see children splashing in the water, fishermen working their nets and women washing clothes by hand.
Occasionally a traditional snakeboat will cruise past, or you will spot colourful birdlife. In the evening, the houseboat will moor up, and the crew will prepare a wonderful local Kerala meal. For those who wish to explore the backwaters deeper, we can arrange longer cruises.
