You can possibly mistake the Taj Tashi for one of Thimphu’s royal palaces or government buildings given its grand style and architecture. It has been designed in a traditional Bhutanese style, yet inside you will find a hotel that has everything you might want.
The big plus about the Taj Tashi is that is has a swimming pool, something that many of the hotels in Bhutan do not offer, so is perfect if you are travelling on a family holiday to Bhutan or like to have a little swim after a tour of Thimphu. There are 66 rooms, many with superb views. They feature Bhutanese artwork and touches and all the mod cons you would expect of an international style hotel. You can upgrade to a Deluxe Room with Balcony to get an outdoor area. We like the Luxury Rooms, located at each corner of the hotel. There are three types of suite, all offering living areas.
There are a couple of restaurant options; Chig Ja Gye is a fine-dining Bhutanese restaurant open for dinner, The Trongsel is an all-day dining option, Ara is main bar and Rimps is a tea-lounge. The Jiva Spa offers a wide range of treatments, and the hotel has a fitness centre.
