The Detail
If you want to go on safari in Chitwan National Park, yet want a really comfortable base, then Kasara is probably your answer. It is Chitwan’s first truly luxury lodge, yet has been tastefully designed to blend into the natural jungle surroundings. Expect to find chic, minimalist architecture, yet furnished with local fixtures and fittings. The rooms are exceptionally welcoming, featuring their own private inner water-garden and outdoor bathrooms. There are just 35 rooms and villas all of which are air-conditioned which is exceptionally welcome during the hotter months of March and April.
At the centre of the Kasara is the main pool, ideal for a post-safari dip. Overlooking this is a double-storey communal building featuring a lounge/bar upstairs and a restaurant downstairs providing a range of Nepalese and continental dishes. They have their own organic garden where many of the vegetables are sourced.
Chitwan is all about getting out and about in the park and they offer a range of jeep safaris, elephant safaris, bush walks and canoe safaris with specialist expert naturalists who are hand-picked to offer the very best wildlife experience in Chitwan. As well as this they can arrange bullock-cart rides through local villages, cycle rides through the verdant surrounding countryside nd elephant bathing. Kasara also has a delightful spa.
The Deluxe Villas are the entry level category and offer a private water-garden courtyard and an outdoor/indoor bathroom. They also have a sun deck for al fresco dining. The Jungle View Villas are double-storied and is ideal for families as it has two bedrooms and private plunge pool. The VIP feature their own infinity edge-plunge pool
Many of the ingredients for the restaurant and Kasara are sourced from its own vegetable and fruit orchard. Meals can be taken in the main restaurant or from the privacy of your own private decking in your villa. There is a bar upstairs serving a range of international drinks. Kasara is certainly the most luxurious of all hotels in Chitwan if you like your creature comforts, but doesn’t really offer the charm you might find at say Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge.
