Boutique Egypt
Cairo - Luxor - AswanExplore Egypt on this privately-guided suggested itinerary combining Cairo, Luxor and Aswan without taking a cruise along the Nile.
Delve into the streets of Coptic Cairo, and an area that is home to an array to Orthodox churches and monasteries. In a three-hour private tour, you can see Cairo’s oldest church and synagogue. The highlight is the Hanging Church, or Al-Muallaqa Church. It was built on top of one of the old fortress gatehouses with its nave suspended over the passageway. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and also known as St Mary’s, it is one of Cairo’s most beautiful churches. Next is the Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church (Abu Serga), dating from the 4th century. It is said that Joseph, Mary and Jesus rested here on a trip to Egypt. Next is the Ben Ezra Synagogue which dates from the 9th century. The current building was completed in the 1890s. Finish at the Coptic Museum, containing some of the world’s best examples of Coptic art. A perfect end to your tour of Coptic Cairo.
