Rohet Garh lies on the banks of a small lake and surrounding by the scrublands of the Thar Desert, home to the Bishnoi tribal people. The Singh family have lived here since it was constructed in 1622, and in 1990 opened it as a heritage hotel to rave reviews. It is set within lovely landscaped gardens and grassy courtyards. There are just 34 rooms at Rohet Garh, each adorned with interesting frescoes, antique furniture and handworked bedcovers. You can opt for looking out over the lake or the gardens. All rooms have lovely en-suite bathrooms.
The restaurant looks out to the swimming pool and has a tented dining terrace upstairs. Rohet Garh is famed for its horse riding in Rajasthan and has a stable of Marwari horses. You can opt for short or long rides, but do note that you need to be an experienced rider. If you are an equestrian, then we suggest heading off into the Bishnoi villages where you can see the traditional way of life.
