Formerly the holiday home of the owner, an interior designer, Rock Villa oozes sophisticated charm combining contemporary with the colonial. The main building was originally a Wallawwa – manor house – dating from the 1800s and has been converted into the large and stylish 2 bedroom suite, with original features and a huge veranda, ideal for a family. The newer 4 bedrooms are also chic in design with plenty of space and overlook the gardens. The pool is set in palm fringed gardens and has plenty of space to spread out and for kids to run around and the beach is just a short 60m walk away. The food is a real highlight with ever changing menus and most of the produce home grown in the organic garden.
Millis Potter Insight
The whole vibe of Rock Villa is charming, laid back and relaxing with a sophisticated yet subtle design running throughout. The coast here at Bentota offers wide golden beaches and lots of watersports but you may prefer just to hideaway around the gorgeous pool here in the tranquil gardens. Do note that there is a railway track at the bottom of the garden that separates the villa from the beach but it doesn’t impact much on your stay and it is quite fun to watch the slow passenger trains pass by. Rock Villa is an ideal honeymooner’s retreat yet also great for families with plenty to do nearby and with lots of space at the property and the staff are wonderful with children. A stay here could be the perfect end to an exciting Sri Lankan adventure to relax and unwind before heading back to the airport, only 2 hrs north.
