The Magauli Serai is among the new breed of luxury lodges that have opened in Chitwan National Park, offering exceptional levels of accommodation and wildlife experiences. Chitwan is unique in that you can do such a variety of safaris, from jeep, walking, boat and on elephant-back. The park is famous for its one-horned rhino, but you also find big cats (tiger and leopard), 550 species of birdlife and gharial crocodile. The lodge overlooks the Rapti River and they have three types of rooms; the Rapti Villas line the river and have private plunge pools. The beds even face out to the river, so you might even have a wildlife sighting before you have your morning cup of tea. The large Presidential Villa have its own private deck, and can be combined to make a two-bedroom suite that is ideal if you are travelling as a family. The Maughauli Rooms are in a block set back fro the river and have balconies overlooking the river (although we generally suggest opting for Rapti Villas). The main reception areas use local Tharu design touches where you find traditional copper artefacts and Nepali pots complementing the swish interiors. There is a central fireplace, which is ideal for colder nights in the winter, a bar and infinity swimming pool.
