Salalah and the Dhofar region are a stark contrast to northern Oman, as you will find tropical conditions, coconut and frankincense trees, and banana plants. This is due to the summer monsoon which makes Salalah more like an Indian Ocean beach destination rather than what you find around Muscat.
If you like smaller hotels, Juweira Boutique Hotel is the best choice in Salalah. It has its own marina and private beach, ideal for couples and families alike.
There are 65 rooms, and you can opt for Juweira Rooms or Marina Suites. Views look out over the lagoon or marina. There are also a few Family Rooms, although these tend to be booked up early.
There are two restaurants at Juweira Boutique Hotel, with al Fanar offering both Arabic and western dishes. You can opt to dine on their delightful terrace. Sammak is their seafood restaurant, accessed via a bridge over the marina. There is also the Al Boom Bar which offers light snacks and drinks.
There is a fitness centre with a sauna and steam room, two outdoor pools, and a beach a short walk from the hotel.
