The Detail

The massive advantage to the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa is in its proximity to the airport. Rather than having to wait an hour or more for a seaplane or domestic flight, you are in resort within the hour, sipping your first cocktail with your children splashing into the pool. For those who are willing to travel a bit further, possibly with teenagers, you can consider Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru.

As with the Four Seasons brand, you see such a high level of service, cuisine and accommodation level at Kuda Huraa. There is a charming feeling of a laid-back Maldivian village. Think of lovely thatched cottages woven through the lush vegetation of a tropical island.

Opt for either an over-water bungalow on stilts or one of their superb beach villas. Let’s take you through the various options. All rooms feature natural fabrics with furnishings in wicker, rattan and dark oak.

The beach villas all have private pools and opt for either the lead-in Beach Pavilion which at 45sqm, offers ample space with the option of an extra bed. Sunrise or Sunset Beach Bungalows are larger at 63sqm and in the same style. Deluxe Beach Pavilions have a newer, more contemporary feel, and are 55sqm. There are also family bungalows with 75sqm and allowing up to two adults and three children. There are water villas, allowing two adults and two children. You can also opt for a range of two and three-bedroom suites.

There are four restaurants and two bars at the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa. They are all centred around the pool, and Half Board here includes a ‘dine-around’ concept. Cafe Huraa is the casual poolside restaurant serving international cuisine. Relish Indian flavours at Baraabaru. Opt for seafood pasta and pizzas at Reef Club. Finally, indulge in freshly caught fish and grilled meats at Kandu Grill. The Poolside Bar serves sandwiches and salads all day, and for those with a thirst, the Sunset Lounge serves excellent cocktails. You can of course opt for an extensive in-room dining menu, setup on your deck or garden.

There is a dedicated pool for children, as well as an adults-only one. There is a superb kids club, open for children between 4-12 and open from 8 am to 6 pm. You can also make use of the comprehensive babysitting service available.

The Water Sports Centre offers activities to suit all age groups from Kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, water skiing, parasailing, banana boating and even fun tubes. There is a dedicated surf school and can be offered for children aged 6 and older. The perfect time to learn is from November to March – and is better for experienced surfers from April to October.

The Dive Centre is superb, and there are some superb dive spots nearby. The Gym is a state-of-the-art fitness facility. The Spa is located on its own private island, accessible by boat. It is a haven of peace and quiet and offers a full range of treatments. A great place to escape when the little ones are in the Kid’s Club!
