Cinnamon Wild is part of the well established Cinnamon brand, ensuring a good standard of accommodation and service as well as more facilities than some of the smaller properties around Yala. Located overlooking a lake and bordering the beach, the setting is beautiful and quiet allowing you to make the most of the natural surroundings. The 68 chalets are located in the jungle and on the edge of the beach giving you a choice of views and the wooden interiors are cosy and comfortable. Dining is usually a buffet although on occasions a la carte is also offered. Families are welcome although due to the focus on safari and wildlife it is best for slightly older children. The ‘Yala by Night’ tour is fun and donning the night vision goggles adds an extra element to your game drive.
Millis Potter Insight
Cinnamon Wild is perfect if you want to experience Yala and its wildlife but want the comfort of a more conventional style property. There is still wildlife roaming on the grounds so you are escorted back to your room at night by a member of staff but this feels less like a safari camp and more like a hotel. The good value price makes Cinnamon Wild more accessible than Chena Huts or Leopard Safaris but you can still hope to spot some of Sri Lanka’s unique wildlife on the exciting game drives and the night safari is a fun way of experiencing the park’s nocturnal creatures.
