The Detail

There are just 79 thatched villas at Anantara Kihavah, so it is a fairly small resort by Maldivian standards. This allows for plenty of space and seclusion whilst offering the highest levels of service. It goes without saying you have a 24-hour butler to bring you anything you want. If you can’t decide between which resort to stay in, Anantara feels sophisticated, stylish and exclusive – yet totally relaxed and understated. The USP? Definitely the fact you get your own pool, and of course the amazing under-water restaurant, Sea.

You can opt for both over-water and beach villas, all with private pools.  The villas have high ceilings and stylish furnishings.  You get all the mod-cons such as a Bose sound system, wine chillers and indulgent espresso machines. The gardens or decks feature inviting sun loungers and hammocks. We loved having your own bike to ride around the island.

The dining options are extensive, and this is another reason that makes Anantara Kihavah stand out from the crowd. Enjoy international fare at Plates, Manzuru serves poolside Italian dishes, Salt serves Asian cuisine and Fire offers wonderful Teppanyaki. Sky is the place to go for an evening cocktail. Sea is an underwater restaurant – with adjacent wine cellar. It goes without saying, it is best to reserve a table before you arrive on the island. The island ice-cream cart is a welcome sight after a few hours of all important sunbathing.

There is much to do at Anantara Kihavah should you want to escape your sun-lounger. The house-reef is fabulous. You can also an extensive water-sports, and big game fishing is on offer. The gym is superb, as too the outdoor pool. The spa features six over-water treatment rooms.
