The Detail
Rosyth Estate House was totally renovated in 2010 from its original condition to offering outstanding accommodation, food and local experiences. There are 8 rooms and suites in total, all furnished with the highest quality fittings whilst reflecting the colonial style of the property. There is so much to do whilst here, from simply absorbing the stunning natural surroundings to exploring the estate which still produces rubber, tea and many fruits and spices. On a hot day take a walk down to the waterfall for a dip or simply relax by the cool pool in the garden. There are also cooking classes, temple walks and on a clear night the star gazing is unparalleled. A particular highlight is the Rock Spa for some indulgent treatments and there is also yoga and meditation on offer, ideal in such a tranquil setting.
Millis Potter Insight
Although Sri Lanka’s hill country offers many opportunities to stay in a renovated planter’s bungalow, Rosyth is one of the most sensitively refurbished and to a very high standard. You feel instantly at home with the warm welcome and the combination of such subtly stylish accommodation on such a large working estate is a real treat. This is the place to come for a real retreat and to switch off and is miles away from the hustle and bustle of Colombo or Galle. Taking the time to walk around the estate and learn about the ongoing rubber and tea production, to visit the local village temples and to sit out at night under the canopy of stars is magical and a stay at Rosyth will leave you feeling revitalised and rejuvenated.
