Pashan Garh

Panna National Park is possibly the easiest wildlife park to access as Khajuraho is only 31 kilometres away, it also acts as the perfect start or end if you are considering taking the traditional tiger circuit of Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench National Parks.

Pashan Garh is set within 190 acres of private wilderness, and where leopard has been spotted fairly frequently. The lodge is located about 7 miles from the park and is built on top of a rocky outcrop with just twelve stone cottages. Pashan Garh means stone house, and each has been designed using timeless building techniques from the local area, using fry packed stone and ‘jaalis’ which are handcrafted wooden shutters. The rooms are delightful, using a dash of leather, and dark rich colours to create lovely living spaces. The Central Haveli houses the communal areas, where you sit down to sumptuous meals. You will find a lovely swimming pool and a lovely outdoor machaan.

Panna is one of the most picturesque of all parks, with the wonderful Ken River flowing through it. With deep ravines, waterfalls, teak forests and rolling hills, the park is a joy to explore. Expect to see a host of wildlife, and tiger has been reintroduced in small numbers in recent years. Other than that, the park is home to leopard, wild boar, wolf, jackal, hyena, bear and deer. The highlight is seeing Indian Crocodile, or muggers, which you probably won’t see in other parks. Safaris take place in the early morning and late afternoon.
