Overview
There is something magical when a husband and wife pool their talents and create something really rather wonderful. Owner Gary Martin is a respected ethnobotanist, and his expertise has shaped Jnane Tamsna’s verdant 15-acre garden. It is possibly one of the most beautifully fragrant gardens we have visited. For example, around every corner is a new scent. It just helps to relax the shoulders and put a smile on your face. His wife, Meryanne, is an acclaimed interior designer with an eye for African art, creating spaces that befit the destination. She literally wrote the book on that lovely understated Moroccan interior design. It all comes together so beautifully at Jname Tamsna.
Rooms
There are just five secluded villas at Jnane Tamsna. You walk to these along a winding path weaving through the lush gardens. Each has its own pool and vary in design and style. You can opt for varying sizes (Small, Standard, Large or Garden Room) or opt for the exclusive two-bedroom Pavilion. Within the rooms, you see Meryanne’s wonderful eye for art. You find lovely Moroccan and Senegalese rugs and fabrics, stylish antiques, and historic wood-carved doors and arches. The bathrooms are again really tasteful. Shiny copper basins and decked out in earth-tone tadelakt. The rooms are air-conditioned and they also have fireplaces for the colder winter months.
Dining occurs on one of the many patios in the garden or inside the African-themed dining room during the winter. The herbs and vegetables used in the restaurant are grown in the garden.
