The boat trip to Mingun takes about an hour, and the river us usually full of Burmese people going about their business; longtail boats, bamboo rafts and ferries taking people up and down the river. Mingun allows you to see a little bit more of the area around Mandalay, and ideal for those on a second-time trip to Burma. When you arrive in Mingun, see the Mingun bell, the largest bronze bell in the world. See the beautiful Hsinbyunme (Ma Thein Tan) Paya and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda which was built to be the worlds tallest. It was said by an astrologer that if it was completed, the King would die – hence there wasn’t great desire to complete it!
