Hidden Lakes: Sagar

Sagar lies to the south of Inle Lake, and is one of Burma’s best kept secrets. Travel by boat from Inle, you will be able to see far more authentic local life than just doing the boat trip on Inle Lake itself. Sit back, and let the world go by as you head further off-the-beaten track. The sunken temples of Sagar are worth seeing; there are 108 of them and are partially underwater for a few months a year. Continue to the village of Thaya Gone, known for the production of the local tipple. Head into another village, famous for the production of pottery. On the western shores you will see the Tar Kaung, which is a series of 200 stupas.
