Egypt has one of the world’s sunniest environments throughout the year. Firstly, the peak season for travel coincides with the cooler months and is between from October to March. Secondly, in December and January, it can be too cool to swim in unheated pools. Thirdly, on the coast and in the Nile Delta the Khamsin desert winds can blow strongly between March and May and send temperatures soaring. Most importantly, the temperature is very hot during the summer months of May to September but is more bearable as it is a dry heat. Egypt’s Mediterranean coast is an exception to the norm between November and March, although warm, it generally is cloudy and has short periods of rain. Finally, the temperatures in Upper Egypt are drier than in Cairo and tend to be about 4 to 5 degrees.
